ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 Obtains and documents patient history  

 Performs physical examinations

 Orders and interprets diagnostic tests 

 Formulates diagnosis 

 Initiates, reviews and revises treatments necessary for the well-being of the patient. 

 Treatments to include but not limited to referrals for  physical therapy, respiratory    therapy, and  occupational  therapy

 Arranges  follow up care necessary for patients condition

 Refers patients to appropriate medical or community services

 Recognizes and evaluates situations which call for immediate attention or treatment procedures essential for the life of the patients

 Instructs and counsels patients regarding matters pertaining to their physical and mental  health

  Administers and prescribes medications and initiates drug orders for the medical  management of patients

 Performs medically necessary  procedures within their level of experience and scope of practice     

 Maintains and signs medical records pertaining to treatments and examinations administered.

 Confers with attending  physician  on cases that exceed their level of  experience or training.

REQUIREMENTS:   

 SELECTION REQUIREMENTS:

A valid license to practice as a Physician Assistant issued by the Physician Assistant Committee of the Medical Board of California* -AND-a current Basic Life Support Certificate* issued by an approved provider.

 LICENSE:

 A valid License to practice as a Physician Assistant issued by the Physician Assistant Committee of the Medical Board of California.

 PHYSICAL CLASS lll:

 Moderate: Includes standing or walking most of the time, with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and reaching; includes working on irregular surfaces, occasionally lifting objects weighting over 25 pounds, and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds.

 SPECIAL REQUIREMENT INFORMATION:

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health Science, Biology, Human Anatomy, Physiology or a closely related field.

• Master's Degree from accredited college or university in Public Health Science, Biology, Human Anatomy, Physiology or a closely related field.
