Unique clinician faculty positions now available

The Betty Irene Moore School of Nursing at UC Davis seeks innovative and highly motivated master’s-degree or doctorally prepared nurse practitioners and physician assistants to join the faculty as clinician educators and serve in a unique role providing both clinical care and clinical teaching activities. Part- and full-time positions at the assistant and associate rank in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series are available.

This search is open to all specialties of nurse practitioners and physician assistants. While all nurse practitioners and physician assistants are welcome and encouraged to apply, the school is particularly interested in those with specialties in women's health, mental health or pediatrics.

A reasonable salary estimate for an assistant clinical professor rank is (base) $106,900 + (other components as negotiated) and the reasonable salary estimate for an associate clinical professor rank is (base) $133,300 + (other components as negotiated). Other components of pay may be offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions, qualifications and experience.

Clinical practice

Clinician educators provide health care in local, community settings approximately 50 to 80% of their time. The clinical placements may be at UC Davis Health, in an external community setting, or in our new, School of Nursing Nurse-Led Mobile Clinic launching in 2023. Clinician educators provide direct patient care and precept graduate School of Nursing family nurse practitioner and physician assistant students. This includes overseeing procedures, providing feedback and assisting with training.

Education

Clinician educators also participate in an educational capacity, which includes teaching didactic courses, small group and clinical skills workshops as well as mentoring and guiding students. The educational component also includes scholarly activity and committee service. This may be 20 to 50% of their time.
