We are seeking a motivated Physician Assistant to join our growing team. This position is ideal for a PA who enjoys both primary care and specialty medicine and is interested in developing expertise in gastroenterology. Candidates with backgrounds in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, or Hospital Medicine are encouraged to apply. We also welcome motivated new graduates who are eager to learn and receive comprehensive mentorship.
Position Summary
The Physician Assistant will work closely with our board-certified gastroenterologists to evaluate and manage patients with a broad spectrum of gastrointestinal disorders. Responsibilities include outpatient clinic evaluations, preventive care, chronic disease management, patient education, diagnostic workups, treatment planning, and longitudinal follow-up. The PA will become an integral member of the practice and help provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a busy outpatient setting.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate and manage patients in an outpatient gastroenterology practice
- Obtain comprehensive medical histories and perform physical examinations
- Develop assessment and treatment plans in collaboration with the supervising physician
- Order, interpret, and review laboratory studies, imaging, and diagnostic testing
- Educate patients regarding gastrointestinal diseases, medications, procedures, and preventive care
- Coordinate care with primary care physicians and consulting specialists
- Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently within the electronic medical record
- Assist with medication management, prescription refills, prior authorizations, and follow-up care
- Coordinate referrals and continuity of care
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain high standards of patient care
Qualifications
Required
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current or eligible California Physician Assistant license
- DEA registration (or ability to obtain)
- Current BLS certification
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care
Preferred
- Experience in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Gastroenterology, or Hospital Medicine
- Experience in an outpatient clinical setting
- Familiarity with electronic medical records
